Parents of children with SEND
We place children with SEND at the heart of our school community, valuing who they are and recognising the unique strengths they bring. We collaborate with parents of pupils with SEND to ensure every child grows in confidence, develops their abilities and all children flourish as learners and individuals.
Our aims in supporting SEND:

PINs (Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools)
PINS stands for ‘Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools’.
It is a project that helps schools to improve the experience of children who are neurodivergent so that they feel welcomed, supported and able to take part in all aspects of school life.
What PINS Aims to Do
- Improve the experiences of children who are neurodivergent by helping schools adapt their environment, teaching approaches and support systems so children can fully participate in school life.
-
Strengthen relationships and communication between parents and schools, giving parents confidence in how their child’s needs are being supported.
-
Provide schools with access to educational and health specialists, as well as support from SEND Voices Wokingham, to help staff better understand and meet children’s needs.
What This Involves for Parents
- Parent Forums / Coffee Mornings: Parents and carers of children with SEN or suspected SEN are invited to informal meetings in school. These sessions are led by PINS officers, who listen to parents’ ideas, concerns, and suggestions about what the school is doing well and where improvements can be made.
-
Sharing Feedback: Comments gathered during meetings are fed back anonymously to the school. This helps shape improvements in inclusivity and support for all children.
-
No Formal Diagnosis Needed: Children do not need a diagnosis for families to take part—PINS is for any parent who feels their child may have additional needs or would benefit from improved inclusion.
-
Access to Information & Support: Parents can find out more through SEND Voices Wokingham, attend events, and connect with other families to share experiences and advice.
If you have any questions about joining the PINS project, please don't hesitate to contact our school via the office: admin@coombes.wokingham.sch.uk
