Parent governors play an important role as members of the governing body, which is responsible for directing the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards of educational achievement. The term of office for parent governors as determined by the governing body is 4 years. The school has high expectations of the time and commitment required from its governors in order to effectively fulfill their roles.

Training is available for all governors and those new to being a governor are encouraged to attend induction training. All of our governors are expected to follow the Code of Conduct. The Coombes is looking for parents who have experience of working in Health and Safety, Estates and Premises, Education or working in the wider community.
If you would like to stand for election please arrange for the attached nomination form to be completed and returned to the school not later than 1200 on Friday 8 February 2019. (i.e. you must get a parent/carer to nominate you, and you must sign to state that you are accepting the nomination).
Nominations must be from parents or carers with children at the school. These nominations must be returned to the school office 1200 on Friday 8 February 2019 Parents/carers being nominated are invited to provide some brief notes explaining their suitability for this role (guidance can be found on the nominations form) this is limited to not more than 200 words and is to be suitable for inclusion in the ballot paper.
Anyone standing for election must certify that he/she is not disqualified for any reason.
If there are more nominations than vacancies the election will be by secret ballot which will take place during the week starting Monday 11 February. Voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.
