September 2021 Admissions

Dear Parents and Carers,

This is a timetable of events for those parents and carers who have been notified that their child will be joining us at The Coombes in September. At the moment we cannot be 100% certain as to what access you will have to the school due to COVID restrictions. The plan works in conjunction with government's current time line of lifting restrictions, (accurate as of March 2021). All events will follow any COVID restrictions which are in operation on that date.

I appreciate how difficult this makes it for both you and your child to start preparing for the big day. At The Coombes we put your child's wellbeing at the centre of our planning. With this in mind, our EYFS teachers, Miss Batten and Miss Stevens, have put together a list of events and activities, which will help us to start build those all-important relationships.

We are already planning for September, with open mornings and teacher parent consultations to ensure that we can support our families through this transition. Throughout the last extraordinary year, the team at The Coombes has focused on 'Confident parents and happy children'. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

School Tours

It is really hard for parents to make a decision about their child's future school when COVID-19 restrictions apply. We want to help parents to understand what The Coombes is all about.

To do this you are welcome to attend virtual open evenings at 1800 on Wednesday 30 September, Wednesday 14 October, Wednesday 4 November, Wednesday 9 December and Wednesday 6 January.

To book a place at one of these events please click on the button below.

Reception Places for September 2021

Children are welcomed into school at the beginning of the year that they are five. If you would like your child to join our school in the Reception Year starting in September 2021 please apply to Wokingham Borough Council. Applications for the 2021 to 2022 school year open on 13 November 2020. You can register your child's details with school admissions on the Citizen Portal, to receive reminder emails about when to apply for a school place.

Please read the parent's guide to starting primary school (PDF) document). This contains all statutory information you need to know about applying for a school place.

All children are welcome to stay full-time after the first week, but if parents of summer born children wish them to start part-time only, this can be discussed with the class teacher.

Parents are notified if their application has been successful or unsuccessful at the beginning of the Summer Term.

Full details and information for the academic year 2021-22 can be found on the Wokingham Borough website. We are delighted that you are considering The Coombes Church of England Primary School as the school for your child!
