Talking to each other

The school is in constant contact with home, through a variety of meetings throughout the year, letters home and a twice termly newsletter and a fortnightly bulletin. These are carried home by the children.

A parent governor produces the newsletters to let parents know in advance the term dates and dates of interest in the school Calendar. Produced in school it contains regular features such as Who's who (interviews with staff members and governors); a wish list for help and items needed. Parents contribute articles about matters of mutual concern and it also contains lots of general information such as advice on common ailments. It is a useful way to explain the teaching team and class organisation. If you would like to see samples of the Newsletters, please contact the School.  It is a useful way to keep in touch with parents and carers who are not able to come into school regularly, so that they feel they are very much part of school life. Their contribution is just as valid as that made by parents who come into school to work with the children and staff regularly. It was initiated for this very reason. The children also contribute to the newsletter with articles and pictures.

We are also very fortunate to have an intranet set up for the classrooms to communicate with each other. This has been developed with the invaluable support of parents with specialist knowledge working closely with the staff member with special responsibility for ICT in the school. Each class has also has its own e-mail address so that children and their parents can use this link to support the Information Communications Technology aspect of the Curriculum. A member of staff regularly up dates the intranet with pictures and writing about shared experiences and news of the partnership schools and organisations all around the world. It is available to parents via password protected access so they can see what their children have been working on.

This website has also been developed with the help of parents with a professional interest in this area.
