Walking Bus

The Coombes CE Primary School ‘Walking Bus Scheme’ was established to help make the local environment surrounding the school a calmer and safer place in which children are able to arrive for the school day.  We are very privileged that Arborfield British Legion have offered to work in partnership with us, allowing parents to use their car park during this busy period.

The walking bus consists of two or more named adults who accompany any children who are waiting with their parents, down to school using pathways through the local estate and crossing at the pelican crossing. All adults and children wear high visibility jackets and a daily register is taken before the group set off at 8.30 am.

Families do not have to commit to using the walking bus every day but we do ask that you fill in a registration form prior to your first bus journey. This form can be obtained from Katy Martin in the school office or from one of the adults responsible for leading the bus and must be returned to the school office.

This is a great opportunity for conversation as the ‘bus’ winds its way to school and it does the figure no harm either. I would be very pleased to hear from any adults who would be willing to make a one day a week commitment to accompany the ‘bus’ to school.
