The
playground had modest beginnings. When the school was first built, it offered
an expanse of tarmac without much of a view. We have photographed and recorded
it as it has changed over the years. It is a mixture of hard and soft areas,
secluded and open areas. The children use it at break times and lunch times.
We use it for festivals and gatherings - to present concerts. It has logs
to climb on, boats to make journeys in, a castle and tunnel, tree houses,
paths to choose. It is surrounded by trees and greenery, offering plenty
of shade in the summer months. Every child has a favourite spot. The surface
is painted with games and a set of concentric rings we use a lot for music
and for coming together.
