About Coombes

School History

The Coombes CE Primary  School is set in the Berkshire Countryside and is established for children from nursery age through to year 6. The school came into being on September 1st 2008 on the amalgamation of Arborfield CE Junior School and The Coombes Infant and Nursery school.

Arborfield, Newland and Barkham CE School was originally built in 1873 for children of all ages from the local villages. The ‘Master’s House’ was also built at the same time and is now occupied by the school caretaker. The school saw many changes over the years, culminating in its becoming a Junior School in 1967 when the Coombes Infant School was built.
