Our School Grounds

Our outdoor environment is our largest classroom. The founding head teacher of the Coombes Infant School, Susan Humphries MBE, MA, led the work to improve and develop the school grounds starting in 1971 and this has been a labour of love for staff, children, parents, governors and friends of the school since then.

We use our school landscape to support much of our teaching and learning programme. Some of your child’s work at school will be inspired by the use of the school’s imaginative and rich setting. The grounds are a living resource for all curriculum areas.

Your child will be involved in work to improve the school grounds and you may like to be involved yourself. Please let us know if you are willing to help in any way. The gift of your time is as important as any talent you might bring.
